We have two new friends in Room One. Alazay started school on Monday and it is her first week ever at school! She has learnt to hold her pencil correctly, sit up nicely on the mat and listen to instructions.
Today, we are very lucky because we have another boy starting in our class. Charlie has come all the way from Foxton. He is a year one, and all the boys have already been playing nicely together. Charlie already has 3 stickers on his sticker chart!!
We are so excited to get to know our new classmates!!!

WEEK TWO - MORNING NEWS
Daphne - In the weekend, I went bowling with my Mum and Dad. I got to play bowling and I got a trophy.
Briar - I stayed home and I coloured in a rabbit and I watched TV.
Hayley - In the weekend, Dad got me some silly bands and Dannielle got some too.
Olivia - In the weekend, I went to the toy shop and got a horse which has a unicorn head. It is pink.
Kayla - In the weekend, I got this Cat book. Its about Cats and Kittens. My favourite cat is one that has lots of different colours.
Dylan - In the weekend, I went to watch Blake's rugby, Blake's team won.
Blake W - In the weekend, I brought this t shirt and it says England on it. It is Grey and Red.
Matthew - In the weekend, the power went off at my house. My Nana's alarm rung and the lights went ping and it went off. It was in the day time.
Cameron - In the weekend, I went to Te Awamutu and I played Ripper Rugby. I had no tries and no rips.
Maia - In the weekend, Dad got Lochlan and I bb gun each. They shoot out little balls that are yellow and white. My gun is silver and my brothers is black.
Blake M - In the weekend, I stayed at home and I watched TV, had lunch and the power went off. So I went shopping for lunch and when I was at the shop, the power went on.

Major Patterson comes to visit
On Tuesday Major Patterson came to talk to us about the war and Anzac Day and why we celebrate it. he also brought lots of his Army stuff but not his guns to show us.
He had his sleeping bag, a drink bottle, a sword, pots and pans and a gas cooker.
He had a spade, to dig a hole to hide in so no one can see him if he was at war. Major Patterson also had One big backpack and one little one, he big one holds everything in it including a tent, this goes on his back when hes walking. The little one goes around his waist, that one holds things like bullets.
Major Patterson told us that the New Zealand Army don't generally go into war, they go after the war to help keep the peace.
Major Patterson came in his Army uniform and on his shirt, he wore lots of medals, they were Regan's Great Grandads medals that he got in the war.
Major Patterson told us that he doesn't go to war, he trains the new Army Soldiers and makes sure that they know what they need to do if they are in war.
We loved hearing all the things Major Patterson had to tell us!!!

Our Friday News - 30th March 2012
Here is our friday news -
Olivia - I have a Red butterfly with lots of gold sparkles on it.
Matthew - When I got home yesterday, i drew a picture for Kayla. I coloured in the squares on the envelope.
Maia - Instead of news, I am going to read you two pages out of this book. My book is called, Sleeping Out. My favourite part in the story is when they find out Mum is asleep.
Hayley - In the weekend, I went fishing. I caught a kingfish, it was very big!! I got a prize bag and inside there was toothpaste stuff, little rugby ball and some fish bait.
Cameron - Jacob made me a paper aeroplane at home. I can undo it and then make it again. It doesnt fly very far.
Daphne - In the weekend, I this new jersey, it has green, pink and purple. It is very warm. I got it from town.
Kayla - When I was little, my nanna bought me these tinkerbell shoes. I love them because I like tinkerbell. I still fit them.
Briar - In the weekend, I got this new drinkbottle, it has pooh bear and piglet on it. I like piglet.
Dylan - In the weekend, I got a new drinkbottle and it has Ruben the Roadsaftey Bear on it. I saw him at my old Creche.
Blake W. - I am going to go swimming tonight with Dylan, my brother, Zach and Mum and Dad. We are going swimming in Hamilton.
Blake M. - I have a pillow pet. It is a penguin. I got it in the holidays.

Our Visit to the Marae
Yesterday, we went to Te Awamutu College and visited the Marae.
When we were there, we got to choose from 4 activity's, Poi, Clay Instruments, special Maori Artifacts and Rock Painting.
Here were our favourite things we did -
Briar - I did Rock Painting and Special Artifacts. My favourite activity was doing Rock Painting because I got to paint things.
Dylan - I did Rock Painting and Special Artifacts. My favourtie activity was painting the rocks because I liked to do the loveheart with a circle in the middle. I also liked playing duck duck goose.
Matthew - I did Poi and Rock Painting, my favourite was rock painting, because I got to paint.
Blake M - I did Rock Painting and Poi, my favourite was rock painting and playing duck duck goose.
Cameron - I did Rock Painting and Special Artifacts, my favourite was rock painting and playing duck duck goose.
Kayla - My activities were Rock Painting and Poi, I liked doing rock painting because you have to paint.
Olivia - I like Rock Painting because you got to draw stuff then paint it on it. I also did Poi.
Maia - My favourite one was Rock Painting and looking at the Maori Artifacts.

We were so lucky to have a day in the Marae, it was so beautiful, there were so much to look at, lots of carvings in the walls which showed lots of history. There were warriors and important settlers in Te Awamutu.
We had such a fun day!

Friday News....
Blake W. - In the weekend my Mum got me a new hat. It is a rugby one. I played Rugby and we won.
Daphne - In the weekend, I got a new pink hat with a pink headband. The headband has sparkles inside it. You can't get the sparkles out of the headband. We went to the beach and we went surfing,
Briar - In the weekend, I got a new Princess Hat. It has Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Aurora.
Blake M. - I found 10 dollars at my house, I was allowed to keep it, so I slept with it so I didnt lose it. I'm not sure what I will buy with it.
Cameron - Look at the tick on my shoe. (the nike tick) There is another tick on the other shoe.
Dylan - In the weekend, I went to my Grandma's house and I got this smurf, it has a love heart tattoo on one side and his hand is by his mouth, thats how you know he is speaking.
Maia - In the weekend, I got some squeakeys. I got them from Paper Plus. I wanted to pass them around so everyone could have a feel. There is a horse, a girl, an elephant and another horse.
Kayla - For my birthday, I got this kitty t.shirt. It has headphones on it. It is pink and the kitten is purple.
Olivia - Last night when I got home, I was looking in my big lego box and I found these dots. I had a little pink one but I lost it. I got them from my old school. I took all the dots off the tape.
